Protect Partner Feature: The Honeybee Conservancy Posted by Michelle Hendelman on 25th Jun 2018 In March 2018 The Mountain launched its new Protect line of t-shirts, trucker hats , ceramic mugs , and tote bags featuring some of the world’s most vulnerable, threatened, or endangered animal species. The Protect Collection boasts a higher purpose beyond the clear visual departure from our classic brightly mottled dyes and our distinctly bold prints. These stark images and compelling phrases were created by design. They are intended to turn heads, get attention, and start important dialogues about the environment and our increasingly fragile ecosystem. Furthermore, they were created to spark action. This is why we are donating a portion of every Protect t-shirt, hat, mug and tote bag sold to one of seven non-profit conservation organizations whose missions focus on preserving and protecting vulnerable and endangered species. Shining the Spotlight on The Honeybee ConservancyFor the next 2 weeks, we will be highlighting one of our Protect Partners –The Honeybee Conservancy –on our website and social media pages. We created our line of “Bee My Voice” products to draw attention to the declining honey bee population and the potentially devastating effect on our global food supply. Here’s a snapshot of the work this dedicated group of individuals does to educate, facilitate outreach, research and ultimately preserve the honey bee population through vital sanctuary programs.WHO: The Honeybee ConservancyWHERE: National organization with headquarters in New York City, NYTHE SITUATION: The honey bee population is declining at an alarming rate, however the demand for pollinator-dependent fruits and vegetables in increasing worldwide. WHAT THEY DO (NUTSHELL VERSION): The Honeybee Conservancy works tirelessly to educate communities about the importance of bees to sustainable organic food production. As they see it, more bees means more high quality food available in underserved communities across the globe, and that’s a win-win!HOW THET DO IT: The Honeybee Conservancy has four major focal points: Bee sanctuaries, local food, education, and outreach. The ultimate goal is to place honey bees in farms and food gardens that feed communities.
